The Fendt 1000 Series
The Value of Vario
With 50,000 pounds of steel working the land behind you, your Fendt 1050 pulls forward. You feel the power; as if the tractor and the land beneath it were created as one. Its strength is defined as the torque increases, yet the engine speed remains slow and steady- seeming like it’s just another day in the field. It’s this ability to deliver pure power and grip to the ground which makes the Fendt 1000 series superior for the heaviest of draft work.
Fendt’s engineering is what makes this possible- designed in a way no other tractor on the market can compare to. It begins with Fendt iD, which is the concept of delivering high power to the components of the tractor, at the lowest engine speeds possible. Not only does this conserve fuel, but it also decreases wear- prolonging equipment life.
The 1000 series is unique from any other Fendt as it features VarioDrive which is the new drivetrain specific to the series. Fendt has been known for their Vario stepless transmission for over 20 years, but VarioDrive is the first drivetrain to drive both axles independent of each other. This variable four-wheel drive, allows torque to be controlled and distributed to each of the axles as needed. This gives you the ability to keep your speed low while still maintaining high engine power- regardless off ground conditions.
Having high horsepower, ranging from 380 to 500 in the 1000 series, along with variable four-wheel drive, gives you complete control. It does so by allowing you to shift the torque between the axles based on your needs. Drag losses are also eliminated since the clutch decouples the front axle drive at 24 kph providing you with exceptional pulling power.
Hugging those tight turns is not an issue with the 1000 series because there is no fixed drive ratio. This allows the front wheel drive to pull the tractor into the curve. Fendt calls this the “pull-in turn effect” and notes that the turning circle in the field can be reduced up to 10 per cent, while also minimizing tire wear.
VarioDrive is not the only component making the 1000 series top of the line. Fendt has also mastered the engineering with VarioGrip, VarioHydraulics, the VarioTerminal and the concentric air system. Learn more about these here: Fendt 1000 Series Features.
