Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Brandt Land Roller used for?

The Brandt Land Roller is used for field preparation by flattening soil surfaces, pushing down rocks, and improving seed-to-soil contact. This helps create a smoother field finish, which is especially important for crops like peas, lentils, and beans commonly grown in Southern Alberta.

What size operations is the Brandt Land Roller best suited for?

The Brandt A-Series Land Roller is built for medium to large acre operations, with working widths ranging from about 51 ft to 91 ft depending on model. This makes it well suited for broadacre grain and pulse crop farms across Southern Alberta that need efficient coverage over large fields.

What makes the Brandt Land Roller durable in tough field conditions?

The roller is built with heavy-duty frame construction, thick-walled drums (up to 5/8 inch), and maintenance-reducing components like composite bushings and sealed bearings. These features help it handle rocky, uneven prairie soils while minimizing wear and downtime.

How does the Brandt Land Roller improve field performance at seeding?

By leveling the field and pressing down rocks and clods, the roller improves seed-to-soil contact. This leads to more consistent emergence and can reduce equipment wear during seeding and harvest, especially in variable soil conditions common in Southern Alberta.

Is the Brandt Land Roller easy to transport between fields?

Yes. The land roller includes a hydraulic floating hitch system, transport wheels, and folding frame sections that allow it to transition between field and road positions efficiently. This is important for large farms that regularly move between multiple field locations.

Can Hanlon Ag Centre help with setup or selection of the Brandt Land Roller?

Yes. Hanlon Ag Centre supports Southern Alberta producers with equipment selection, setup guidance, and service support. Our team can help determine the right roller width and configuration based on your acreage size, crop types, and field conditions.
