The Muratori Story

May 26, 2020

The road to success of a family-owned Italian business.

Beginning with a small repair company in Italy, Alcide Muratori got his start repairing agricultural machinery in 1949. Fixing machinery was the primary focus of his company, however, occasionally a small tractor build would be done as well. Many of the parts they used to build the tractors were acquired from Allied Truck remnants which were left behind during World War II.

In the 1960s Muratori began building hoes and by the 1970s was exporting them to nearby countries. Muratori’s products were a success and expansion began. A new factory was built in 1978 and Muratori S.P.A. was founded. This factory is still operational today and it is considered one of the most modern in its sector due to recent restorations.

Alcide’s son and daughter now run the business- his son Lucio is the president and his daughter Elisa is the managing director. Their steps to modernize in recent years have reduced the factory’s environmental impact significantly. It began with the implementation of an automated painting plant and then the adoption of photovoltaic technology. The photovoltaic technology harnesses light energy, which runs about 75 per cent of their factory.

Muratori now manufactures a wide range of products for a variety of uses. Their products are used for gardening, vineyards, orchards, landscaping and large scale farms. They manufacture everything from fertilizer spreaders and mowers to hoes and harrows. Currently Muratori exports 90 per cent of their products to over 40 counties.

About ten years ago, when Hanlon decided to take Muratori on as a shortline brand, it was an easy decision and the benefits were clear- Muratori provided high quality and reliable implements at the best value to customers.

Hanlon is now the Muratori distributor for western Canada, and stocks more parts than any other dealer in the region. It’s a relationship the dealership is proud to have, as Hanlon can relate to the values and work ethic that stem from a business that has been built around family and generations of people who are passionate about the business they are in.
