Meet Jared Mosher
Jared Mosher, Heavy Duty Service Technician, Journeyman, Hanlon Ag Centre
Chances are, if you’ve had a service call out to your farm this last year, Jared may have been the guy coming to the rescue. He figures he put on around 15,000 km on his service truck this past year alone. He works on all of the different equipment Hanlon supplies, and doesn’t have “a specialty” per say. As far as what he likes working on the most, the more intricate equipment takes the win- “I do like the tractors,” he says, “they can be a bit of a challenge.”
Jared has been with Hanlon for almost three years now and really likes it. “All the employees and the management are really good to work with,” he says.
Jared grew up in Cardston, AB with his two sisters and one brother. He worked as a ranch hand on various farms in the area before going to Lethbridge College to get his heavy duty mechanic ticket.
Prior to working at Hanlon, he was employed with Dunner in Broxburn working on semi trucks. He also did some welding out in Saskatchewan.
Jared made the transition into agriculture because he’s passionate about it and he finds farming interesting. “I would like to be able to start my own farm one day,” he says, but recognizes, “It’s pretty hard to do that these days.” He says it’s the whole process of farming that interests him- from the big drills that put seeds in the ground to growing food that feeds the world.
When Jared isn’t busy working on the big equipment, he also likes to restore old cars. He and his girlfriend Shannon are both into horses and enjoy riding together. In the warmer months you can find Jared out on his dirt bike or out camping.
