Microwave Moisture Sensors
Harvest Tec’s Latest Microwave Moisture Sensing Technology
New Microwave Moisture Sensors are Harvest Tec’s latest upgrade to assist in the production of high quality hay. These sensors deliver highly accurate crop information to the operator and also improve the effectiveness of preservative application.
For balers with a preservative applicator, the 770MWM sensor is available. This model’s sensors, which are attached to the compression chamber of a big square baler, work by scanning individual leaves as they enter the chamber.
The sensors scan the entire width of the chamber, and provide the operator with an accuracy reading of +/- 1 point of the actual crop moisture. Due to the scanner’s proximity to the spray shield of the preservative applicator, it reduces the lag time between reading and application.
The star wheel sensors on the preservative applicator will continue to work, and the operator will have the ability to select which sensor they prefer to use.
The 770MWM Moisture Sensor can be installed on any new 700 Hayboss Applicator system and also on some previous models as well.
For balers without preservative applicators, the 77E Economy Moisture Tester is an option. These sensors attach to the back of the bale chamber and read the width of the bale after each stuffer stroke. The sensor detects moisture levels form 6 to 70 per cent and provides the operator with highly accurate readings of the crop conditions.
The 77E Tester can also be equipped to work in conjunction with the Staheli West Dew Point Steamers to provide more accurate readings of moisture.
For both models, readings can be easily viewed through ISO displays, or with a tablet, depending on the operator’s preference. When using ISOBUS, information is communicated instantaneously so the operator can quickly make adjustments when necessary.
