Implement Steering Solutions

Implement Steering

Advancements in precision ag are continually driving farmers closer to perfection, and now for row crop farmers, implement steering is just another move in that direction. Homburg Holland and Trimble both provide solutions to ensure implements maintain sub-inch accuracy by providing the appropriate corrections.

Homburg Holland’s SmartSTEER is the most advanced option available for implement steering today. It works with AB, straight or curve lines, is easy-to-use and can switch back and forth from AB line mode to headland mode automatically.

SmartSTEER’s automated headland assistance can maintain accuracy when turning on the headland, saving the operator time by reducing the need to back up. It pulls the planter like a steered sprayer, preventing damage to ridges, which could lead to spoilage down the road.

SmartSTEER will pull the planter perfectly straight behind the planter on every pass without any operator assistance. Reverse mode is also available for steered wheel implements so the planter is pulled straight as if it were mounted.

SmartSTEER delivers additional accuracy with an advanced gyro, which compensates for tilt on slopes and sidehills. Crop damage and compaction is kept at a minimum as the implement is able to consistently maintain a precise position. This delivers multiple use benefits from tillage tools to spraying equipment and beyond.

SmartSTEER is compatible with most equipment brands. It works with various implement options such as wheel, hitch, drawbar, side shift and coulter steering and is connected easily through the ISOBUS socket.

Trimble also offers similar technology which is available with GNSS antennas or NavController equipment.
